The Spring Showdown
23 May 2010

The SCT Showdown was a blast in 2009.  Now it will be time for another go at it.  This time with more trophies for more classes.  Three Qualifiers and a Main.  Trophies for top 3 in each featured class.

1) Showdown Stock SCT*,
2) Mod SCT,
3) 19-turn Truck,
4) Mod 2wd Buggy,
5) Mod 4wd Buggy

*Showdown Stock SCT Rules:
ROAR Rules for Stock SCT, with 2 adjustments only:
1) a SCT kit RTR motor may be used
2) only treaded SCT tires, no pins/spikes
These adjustments allow an out-of the box SCT to be viable

Top 3 drivers from ALL Showdown Stock SCT heats/races MUST pass tech IMMEDIATELY after their race or risk disqualification.

The Showdown Stock SCT class is expected to be the largest class (46 of the 85 entries in the 2009 Showdown race).
This class exclusively will have 2 bump-ups from each main into the next higher main.

Pre-registration for the event at rcSignup.com: RC_SIGNUP PRE REGISTRATION

can I run a 4wd slash in mod sct?

Finally checking on the ROAR rules for it, I see that they only cover "stock" SCT and have not comments for mod SCT -- although they don't specify 2wd or 4wd in either case.  So, we are left on our own here for a while.  I would consider what other surrounding tracks are doing, but I don't have any word on that either.  We'll have to float the question out there:

Would 4wd sct go in
1) mod sct
2) 4wd sct
3) open 1/8th
4) something else = _________

We'll need to drum up some interest.  I think 4wd would be really rewarding on the loose dirt.

Hi,

I'm new here. I'm also new in RC racing. I wonder what's the rules for the batteries? Lipos allowed?

What's the point system? How does it work?

How do you time the lap?
Thanks
Ryan

Hi,

We stick close to ROAR rules whenever possible.  LiPos are allowed for sure.

There are electronic devices that you put in your car, called transponders.  You can buy one or borrow one at the track.  There are a couple of different systems.  The most common is ambRC.  We use I-Lap.  See rclapcounter.com for some details on those.  It transmits a small signal that is picked up each time you cross a line on the track.  A computer keeps track of everybody.

Points system -- not sure exactly what kind of points you mean.  Just ask again.

New to RC Racing? Nothing beats going to a track and looking around.  If you want to visit a track right now, there are indoor tracks you could look at.  What part of town are you near?

Hey, are you the same person viewing the Kubota Tractor auction on eBay that I like : )?
